10x10 Original abstract mixed media painting on wood panel with acrylic modeling paste, prisma pencils, textured healing calming wall decor
"Echoes and Memories" is an original 10x10 mixed media painting, painted by hand on a solid wooden panel using acrylic paint, modeling paste, and Prismacolor pencils. No AI, no assistants, just me, a palette knife, some music, and a coffee that I kept forgetting to drink. This piece is part of a series that leans into the strange, wonderful world of getting older. I’m in my 60s now, which means I have a decent collection of laugh lines, coffee stains, age spots, and stories I can half-remember but retell with confidence. You know those moments when something tugs at your memory and you’re almost there, but not quite? That feeling lives in this painting. The surface is textured, layered, and a little raw. Some of it is planned, some of it just happens when I’m not looking. The result is something soft but structured, abstract but familiar, like a thought that hasn’t quite formed yet. It’s also a bit of a departure for me. I usually work in encaustic wax, but this time I swapped the blowtorch for spatula and paste. Safer, less smoky, still just as meditative. This painting would feel right at home in a quiet corner, a cozy reading nook, or on the wall near wherever you leave your keys and forget them daily. It has a calm presence, but it’s not trying to impress anyone. Much like me, really. What you’re getting: - Original one-of-a-kind artwork that is signed (for what its worth) - 10x10 inches on a sturdy wood panel - A therapeutic art piece that reflects themes of memories, aging, soft confusion, memories, time, oh and memories. - An ideal thoughtful gift for anyone craving a bit of visual stillness or to cover up a hole in the wall. I made this with care, intention, and just enough forgetfulness to keep it interesting. Hope it makes you pause for a moment or at least forget what you were doing in a good way.
